Miss Namagembe Rose (63 years) a grand mother in Buzzu village Mukono district is in dire need of a kitchen, better wood burning stoves and sustainable fuels for cooking. She stays with 6 grand children who entirely depend on her and uses dirty cooking methods to prepare a meal for them. In harsh weather conditions such as rainy seasons, the family goes without a meal because the kitchen floods and firewood too gets wet and during dry seasons, the food gets contaminated with soil, flies posing a danger to diseases such as diarrhea.

Consequently, her life and those of her grand children are at risk of heart diseases, stroke, cancer, pneumonia among others because they rely on dirty fuels and cooking technologies.

Not only does she need safe cooking method but she also needs to undergo surgery for Hernia disease which she has been battling for last 2 years. Dirty cooking has worsened her situation and some times she fails to go and fend for her orphaned grandchildren because during cold weather the pain becomes so intense to even help herself.

Without, a healthy life, Rose may not be able to take care of her grand children, and they may end up on streets and their property grabbed by the greedy relatives

Therefore, I am humbly requesting all well wisher to help me raise $5000 to construct a kitchen with improved and smokeless firewood stoves for the elderly grand mother to improve on her cooking conditions, pay for her Hernia surgery and treatment and to also raise awareness on the importance of adopting clean cooking in the village to save the lives of mothers and children who die of premature deaths due to household air pollution.
